Latest News

Yesterday, the departmental council of Alpes-Maritimes met in a plenary session primarily to discuss the 2022 administrative account.

Good news, despite the various crises experienced in recent years whose impact is still being felt, the result is positive. With 1.754 billion in expenditures for 1.875 billion in revenues, the president of the Department of Alpes-Maritimes Charles-Ange Ginรฉsy expressed pride in the work accomplished by the approximately 4,300 agents โ€œwho work every day to implement the political decisions we make in this Assembly.โ€

A positive balance brought to 40 million euros after accounting for the previous year’s results (-80 million euros). The main reason for this result is related to transfer duties. In other words, the taxes collected by the community on real estate sales. This amounted to nearly 690 million euros in 2022, a record proving the health of the real estate market in the department.

80 million for the reconstruction of the valleys

Out of the 298 million euros invested (excluding debt still estimated at 857 million according to the opposition), 80 million was dedicated to the reconstruction of the valleys after the passage of storm Alex. The work is expected to be completed this year and will have cost the Department nearly 315 million euros.

Among other investments, there was a 600 million euro expenditure allocated to social services. This includes, for instance, subsidies to assist populations in need, such as unaccompanied minor migrants, the support of elderly or disabled individuals at home, and future parents with the creation of the ‘House of 1,000 Days.’

Finally, the commitment to a more responsible department remains a significant focus. This is represented by the launch of specific project calls related to water (management and reuse of treated wastewater) which required an investment of 7 million euros.
