The digital textbook: a national experiment tested in the Alpes-Maritimes

Latest News

The experimentation with digital textbooks and Digital Work Environment (ENT) is conducted in partnership with the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, by the Ministry of National Education in the Nice academy, as well as in 11 other academies in collaboration with 20 departments, school publishers, textbook distribution platforms, and ENT solution providers.

A National Experimentation Tested in the Alpes-Maritimes

Tested in two colleges in the Alpes-Maritimes: Renรฉ Cassin in Tourette-Levens, and Pierre Bertone in Antibes, the digital school textbook will be used by 6th-grade students as well as their teachers.

Thanks to this tool, students will be able to access their new digital school textbooks in class, using the digital board, and online through the Digital Work Environment, while the same textbooks in paper version will no longer be carried.

When Lightening the Load of School Bags Becomes a Reality

This unprecedented use of school textbooks in college and at home allows for the lightening of school bag weight, makes innovative digital resources available, and develops new educational practices. It should be noted that it can be a response to the continuity of teaching in cases of H1N1 flu.

For Renรฉ Cassin college, 180 students, consisting of 7 classes, and 13 teachers are involved. The subjects selected are French, mathematics, and history-geography. This operation required the installation of 3 computers, 2 interactive whiteboards, and 2 video projectors.

No Additional Costs for Parents

The student can access the textbooks anywhere and anytime during the school year: in class, in the documentation center, at home… the only requirements are having a computer and internet access.

The cost of this experimentation, entirely funded by the General Council, amounts to โ‚ฌ28,000.
