IMS PACA, in charge of the Regional Platform of the Diversity Charter, organized the 3rd edition of the Diversity Charter Awards in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in Marseille. For 3 years, the Diversity Charter Awards have recognized, on a national scale, the most innovative and high-performing companies in terms of diversity management and combating discrimination.

aeroport-8.jpg Composed of regional actors committed to diversity (Deputy Prefect for Equal Opportunity, DIRECCTE PACA, PACA Regional Council, Regional Delegation for Women’s Rights, UPR/MEDEF PACA, CCIR, Marseille Employment House), the jury of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region praised the commitment of the winning companies, including the Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur, which won the Disability Policy Award.

The award ceremony took place in the reception rooms of the Regional Prefecture in the presence of around one hundred representatives of companies and regional institutions and allowed the reaffirmation of the necessity to fight against all forms of discrimination and to promote diversity in employment.

AÉROPORTS DE LA CÔTE D’AZUR (592 employees) received the Disability Policy Award presented by Michèle Trégan, Regional Counselor Delegate for Employment and Social and Solidarity Economy, and Matthias Bauland, Member of the UPE13 Executive Council, representing MEDEF PACA and UPR PACA

The diversity policy of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur is mainly focused on Disability, Seniors, and Professional Equality between Women and Men.

The action “Awareness/Training: A Different Perspective on Disability” presented as part of the Diversity Charter Awards allowed 95% of the employees of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur, or 415 managers and employees, to be sensitized and trained between September and December 2012.

The action is exemplary because 95% of the employees participated in the awareness/training sessions, despite operational constraints and shift schedules.

The Orange site at Saint Mauront is located in an area considered difficult: it is mapped as a Sensitive Urban Zone (ZUS), Urban Social Cohesion Contract (CUCS), in a Priority Security Zone (ZSP), and currently benefiting from an ANRU program. Due to its activities, it has long operated in relative self-sufficiency, with little contact with the neighborhood.

In order to create bridges between the company and its territory, a social and cultural program was developed targeting both the site’s employees and the neighborhood’s residents. Named “Orange in the Neighborhood”, this program was implemented around several “Energy Rendezvous”: company visits and internships for junior high school students (Youth Energy Rendezvous), organization of a soccer match between Orange employees and the neighborhood club (Sport Energy Rendezvous), shared choir sessions between employees and neighborhood residents (Choir Energy Rendezvous), clothing collection…

Actions more focused on internal matters were also deployed around the cultural aspect, with a creators’ season, a photo contest, and the presence of professional graffiti artists from the neighborhood.

These actions were carried out in collaboration with local associations (Felix Pyat Soccer Club, Secours Populaire, ATD Quart Monde, Les Têtes de l’Art…) or neighborhood junior high schools (Rosa Parks, Vallons des Pins…). They will continue in 2014.
