Initiated by the association “Les amis de l’Amourier” and in partnership with Ciné-Café, the Cinémathèque will present this Sunday (at 3 PM) the remarkable docudrama by Peter Watkins, “La Commune (Paris 1871)”, released in 2001.
Extensive improvisations by actors, often from the fields of Culture, Education, and social action, blend the phrasing of the 19th and 21st centuries, deliberate anachronisms (conflict of imaginary TV channels, one being a State channel controlled by the Versaillais, the other acting as a free media giving voice to the rioters), multiplicity of perspectives offering spectators the freedom to arbitrate the conflicts: the director creates a sort of mise en abyme of eras and their struggles, powerfully renewing the forms and content of historical documentaries.
