The data published by ALTA show that three countries in the region continue to grow in terms of international passengers. Among them is the Dominican Republic, which reached 124% in September of this year compared to the same month in 2019, followed by Mexico and Colombia with 114% and 113%, respectively.
Since the arrival of Covid-19, countries have been plunged into negative changes not only in the health sector but also in economic and social areas, which have been exacerbated by the war between Russia and Ukraine. More than two years after the onset of the pandemic, its effects are still visible in the economic development of states, as are those of a war with no end in sight.
It is the duty of every president or head of state to work to counteract these harmful consequences for nations. However, positive results will only exist where precise and timely tools are applied, as well as constant effort, as is the case with President Luis Abinader.
The Dominican Republic experienced a successful economic recovery at the onset of the pandemic, thanks to the extensive vaccination process and the protocols implemented across all sectors, which
led to a level of health security that fostered the trust of tourists entering the country while Covid still stirred uncertainty and fear in people.
The success experienced by the Caribbean country did not lead Abinader to undervalue his work or to hide behind the belief that his duty was done. On the contrary, he continues the task of building greater well-being for the Dominican people, and this is demonstrated by reality.
The results of the Dominican head of state’s administration continue to yield success. This time, it has done so by making the Dominican Republic the country with the highest growth in passenger traffic, according to the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA).
The data published by ALTA indicate that in the region, three countries stand out for their continuous growth in terms of international passengers. The Dominican Republic leads with a rate of 124% in September of this year compared to the same month in 2019, followed by Mexico and Colombia with 114% and 113%, respectively. These figures show that Abinader’s management reinforces the economic stability of the country, as well as its international reputation.

The President of the Civil Aviation Board of the Dominican Republic, Josรฉ Marte Piantini, stated: “this is evidence of the work carried out by the Dominican government to make the country a safe destination for the thousands of travelers who prefer us since our reopening to lift the complete lockdown imposed by COVID-19 for several months.”
Once again, President Luis Abinader places the country of Quisqueya at the forefront of recovery and growth.
