The eaglets under pressure host Lyon

Latest News

After a disappointing start to the league, with a draw and two losses, OGC Nice must urgently turn things around tonight at home against the reigning French champions Olympique Lyonnais. Needless to say, a defeat for the Azuréens would significantly complicate their chances of qualifying for the UEFA Cup: the club’s main objective at the start of the season.

Following the suspension of the construction of the new stadium, it would be another setback for the Nice directors to see their team sinking into the depths of the Ligue 1 standings. Tomorrow night, at the Stade du Ray, even though Lyon’s team is stronger on paper, the Eagles will need to play with flair, cheered on by an exuberant crowd. Another defeat would plunge the club further into doubt and lead to incomprehension among many supporters. Remember, the slogan of their website is none other than “A great public for a great club” (www.ogcnice.com).

A shrewd and interesting summer recruitment but…

The summer recruitment seems shrewd and promising for the stability of the team. However, given the latest results, it could be called into question. Football is an “inexact science” where everything moves very quickly, experts explain. That’s why OGC Nice needs to react. To finally kickstart their season. With only one goal in three matches, the strikers are particularly under scrutiny. This lack of scoring has cost the team dearly since the start of the season. They must also react to help the club begin its progress back to the top level. Even though the construction of the new stadium is halted by an administrative decision, the club’s results must improve progressively.

The Eagles have shown that they can compete with these Lyonnais loaded with international players. But that was a year ago already. The time has come to show that this year too, there is a real unified team. A benchmark match against Lyon would allow the Nice collective to possibly start a great adventure.

It’s their turn to play!
