The results from PACA have clearly placed the reformist resolution EUROPA in the lead, allowing the 2 departmental co-secretaries from the 06, Jeannine THIEMONGE (Nice) and Anne MATHE DE BOTTON (Menton), to participate in the national federal council of the ecologists.
The final list for this federal council will be known on June 11 during the second round and is expected to include other locals from the region, following their regional success.
However, at the national level, the list from “the firm” of Cรฉcile DUFLOT led by David CORMAND remains in the lead but with only 35% of the votes.
According to Laurent LANQUAR, “this very favorable vote for the 06 shows the gap between the local level, which is quick to embrace changes in governance, and the national level, which remains conservative with the current line.”
Laurent LANQUAR states, “the choice of this resolution will allow us to rebuild political ecology from the bottom up, at the local level, with associations and close to the citizens, away from the national concerns and egos. It is this priority that I fully intend to apply at the departmental level.”
All resolutions speak of the refoundation of political ecology.
In texts as in actions, this desire to give foundations back to our movement takes very different paths. It often consists of an intellectual endeavor that ultimately becomes disembodied. It often ends in a battle for power positions dressed in ideological divisions.
The 2020 municipal elections must be the moment for a reestablishment of ecologists and ecology in cities and the countryside, free from the sole logic of alliances with the PS, and supported by a civil society mobilized for the transition to a sustainable world.
This is also a condition for becoming a political force once more, in terms of members and elected officials, capable of influencing key structural choices at the national and European levels.
