For the 20th consecutive year, the RAID EDHEC association, composed of students from EDHEC Business School, is organizing the Raid EDHEC from May 29 to June 2, a 5-day sports race in the hinterland of Nice.
For this edition, Florian Astruc, the president of the association, commented: “Once you’ve experienced Adventure Raids, you can’t get enough.” This is how a competitor of the 19th edition described his experience of this rapidly growing sport. The Raid EDHEC is a taste of a 5-day adventure in nature, in the heart of the hinterland of Nice. It is also a human adventure shared between the organizing team and the competitors united by strong values such as self-surpassing, respect for the environment, conviviality, and mutual support.”
The sponsor of the 20th Raid EDHEC will be Emilie Fer, Olympic kayaking champion in London.
Renowned as one of the most demanding Raids in France, the 2013 Raid EDHEC will be contested in orientation over a 250 km course with more than 10,000 m of positive elevation gain, combining events of trail running, mountain biking, climbing (via ferrata), and white water sports (sea kayaking, canyoning).
Teams, composed of 4 people, are both students and professionals. This year, RAID EDHEC will once again have the pleasure of welcoming high-level teams such as Team Quechua (world champion 2005 and winner of the event last year), Team Lafuma (French champion, European champion, and 5th in the 2012 world championships) and Team X-Bionic.
On Wednesday, May 29, 30 teams will set off on an unforgettable 5-day adventure: the beauty of the landscapes and the immersion in an extraordinary natural setting will be the highlights.
On Sunday, June 2, after 4 days of complete escape, competitors will cross the finish line arch on the Promenade des Anglais, at the level of the Quai des Etats-Unis, in the heart of our arrival village which will also be an occasion for a “Sport and Nature” fair. The competition promises to be exciting right up to the arrival on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.
