The competitors of the Raid Edhec completed the first part of the challenge under the watchful and vigilant eye of our columnist Damien Degrimaudet de Rochebouet, to whom Nice-Premium entrusted the pen.

raid_edhec-4.jpg After a 30-kilometer loop around Viévola the previous day as a prologue, the teams of the 2012 Raid EDHEC embarked at 5am in the dark and fog.

Considered the main stage of the 19th edition, the first stage thus connected Viévola to a new bivouac located on the heights of Fontan, offering an exceptional view of the Roya valley.

A particularly demanding course: 50 kilometers of mountain biking and 15 kilometers of trail running punctuated by a via ferrata overlooking the town of Tende. It is worth mentioning the magnificent 360° view of the Mercantour National Park and the mountain biking section above the Lac des Mesches.

In terms of results, congratulations to Team Quechua who took the victory in 4h31’05’’ after bonuses, marking their second consecutive win in the 2012 Raid EDHEC, thus widening the gap over their pursuers in the general classification.

A remarkable performance from Issy Aventures Raidnature.com, which took 2nd place in 5h16’02’’ after bonuses. XTTR 63 Crédit Agricole completed the podium in 6h30’58’’ after bonuses. In the student ranking, the Summ’it Raid EDHEC team recorded the best time ahead of the other two student teams, IESEG Outdoor 1 and IESEG Outdoor 2.

By the end of the second stage, fatigue set in and the competitors were recuperating from a day full of emotions.

The teams began at 6am on mountain bikes from the bivouac located on the heights of Fontan. After several kilometers, they faced a new challenge: 2 hours of canyoning in refreshing waters. The experience is intense and the event leaves a lasting impression. The competitors continued the day alternating between mountain biking and trail running, eventually reaching the Col de Braus. The bivouac, spread out on a plateau below a ruined residence, seemed to be suspended out of time.

Speaking of time: 10h17’42’’ is what Team Quechua took to connect the two bivouacs. Following in the day’s ranking are the teams Issy Aventures Raidnature.com and XTTR63 Crédit Agricole. For students, the Summ’it Raid EDHEC team remains in the lead. Notable was the arrival of Fun Events Passion in swimsuits!
