The elevators of Castle Hill

Latest News

At the end of February, the management of the elevators at the Castle Hill, which had until then been delegated to a private company, will be taken over directly by the City of Nice (as per the Municipal Council vote of January 28, 2011) and managed by the municipal services.

In order to allow the inhabitants of Nice as well as the many tourists and visitors to access this historic site, an emblem of Nice’s culture, with greater ease, the service will be free of charge.

Since 2005, these elevators have always required a fee.
But starting from March 1, 2011, users of the elevators will be able to access the exceptional panorama of Castle Hill, quickly and at no cost!

The conditions and hours of operation will remain unchanged: the service will be available 7 days a week.
Access to the “Castle” site in the City of Nice is via two elevators, located on the Quai des Etats-Unis near the Bellanda Tower and the Lesage staircase – 1 rue des Ponchettes. They were built shortly before the Second World War and have always been operated by private companies.
