The novel: Humanity Laid Bare
The story takes place at the hospital in Azur-Ville, in 2056. There, people live, are treated, find relief, die, and witness mysteries—some miraculous, like the unconscious grandmother waiting for her granddaughter’s whispering voice in her ear to pass away. Faced with suffering, death, and human solitude, the men and women seeking refuge in the hospital sometimes remain hopelessly alone. However, from time to time, they encounter the kindness of another person. Confronted with these situations, the men and women in the emergency department still have words and imagination to share their humanity.
