Started on May 12 and 13, the strike movement at the SNAAM factories, including the one in Nice La Trinitรฉ, continues. This Monday, May 20, the employees remain mobilized. They denounce deteriorating working conditions and the lack of dialogue with management.
For over a week now, the employees of the SNAAM company, specialized in metal reinforcements for reinforced concrete, are on strike. The picket set up at the Nice La Trinitรฉ site was renewed this Tuesday, May 20. Other establishments across France are following the movement.
This mobilization stems from a series of demands centered on working conditions, remuneration, and social dialogue. Employees are specifically requesting an improvement in the ergonomics of workstations, acknowledgment of arduousness, a salary increase, and the implementation of a 13th month.
In a statement published on May 12, the union representatives highlighted โa daily life marked by a lack of respect, stagnant salaries [โฆ] and a lack of recognition of efforts.โ They are also demanding the application of recommendations made by the labor inspection, which reportedly identified several shortcomings in the company’s factories.
So far, according to the union organization, management has not responded at all. This silence is at the heart of the discontent. โSocial dialogue must become a reality, and our concerns must be heard,โ the statement asserted.
A mobilization that risks lasting
The situation remains tense. On the ground, the strikers are keeping up the pressure. In Nice, several dozen workers are currently mobilized at the entrance to the site.
The elected members of the Social and Economic Committee (CSE) also claim they are under pressure. They are calling for โrespect for employee representative bodiesโ and recognition of their role within the company.
This Tuesday, May 20, as the picket continues, the strikers are calling for a new mobilization. They hope for a quick reaction from management, without which the conflict could settle in for the long term. โWe are calling on all employees to join this movement massivelyโ, declares the CGT union of SNAAM.
Contacted multiple times by the unions, management has not, to this date, reacted publicly. The employees are now waiting for responses to try to unlock the situation.
