Opening today of the exhibition featuring the most beautiful pieces from the private collection of Dr. Alain Frère, Mayor of Tourrette-Levens, Vice-President of the General Council delegated to Culture and Artistic Advisor of the Monte Carlo Circus Festival since its inception. An exhibition that will delight all circus enthusiasts and professionals.
A true reference!
Let us not forget that it was Dr. Frère who was chosen by Prince Rainier III to advise him during the creation of the Monaco Circus Festival, and to this day, he remains the Artistic Advisor. One can also gauge the reputation of his collection by discovering that two of the greatest French filmmakers, Claude Lelouch and Jean-Jacques Annaud, have visited his private circus museum and drawn inspiration from it for their films.
For from “Itinerary of a Spoiled Child” by one to “Two Brothers” by the other, a common denominator: the circus universe created with the advice and works of Dr. Frère.
An opportunity to discover or rediscover Tourrette-Levens
Tourrette-Levens is an open-air museum. Walking through it is enough to realize the artistic involvement of its mayor and residents.
At every street corner stands a piece of art. Overlooked by its castle (one of the last standing in the County of Nice), this perched village alone has 3 museums: the Butterfly Museum, the Traditional Crafts Museum, and the Prehistory Museum.
One main principle: free admission.
And if there were a second principle, it would be easy access to information, as guided tours are available on request and are led by the curators themselves!
FROM JUNE 10 TO SEPTEMBER 18, 2011 IN THE NEW CULTURAL SPACE OF TOURRETTE-LEVENS (20 minutes from Nice, free parking) – Bus No. 89 (€1 per trip).
