Until January 14, 2018, the International Center for Contemporary Art in Carros, at the Château de Carros, opens its doors to a photography exhibition by André Mérian entitled “Never Mind”.
There is also an artistic collaboration with the writer Michel Butor (1926-2016) whose work is named “Around Michel Butor”.
“NEVER MIND”
The Frac invites the Marseille photographer André Mérian to present, through two exhibitions, his works which will be showcased in two venues that are partnering with the Frac in the region.
About forty-five photographs, six of which were acquired by the Frac in 2016, will be featured in this exhibition, and this time it diverges from suburban landscapes.
Imagine a photo of a slightly open door, bathroom tiles, a car hood, or even decorative paper displayed before the visitors’ eyes.

Indeed, the photographer seeks to immortalize the scenes of our daily life, as he casts a unique gaze on what surrounds us, clearly highlighting decay or abandonment.
Through his photographs that symbolize human solitude in the vast playground offered by nature, the photographer delivers a powerful message to the spectators.
There is a space between emptiness and the grandeur that nature can offer to humans, maintaining this distance and simplicity.
“AROUND MICHEL BUTOR”
In parallel with Mérian’s exhibition, there are also several selections of works by artists who collaborated with Michel Butor featured in the CIAC collection.
The artists surrounding the French writer include Alocco, Androff, Besançon, Charvolen, Duchêne, Eppelé, Klasen, Lanneau, Laurent, Lauro, Michel, and many others.
Visit the Château de Carros to discover the works and the exhibition ” Around Michel Butor” which has been extended until April 30, 2018.
