The equality between women and men at the center of the action of the Club de l’Égalité

Equality between women and men is clearly stated at the top of the August 4, 2015 law of 2014, but for now, the term that accompanies it is still more of a desire than a reality.

In short, the law exists, it serves as a driving force, but much remains to be done in many areas, whether professional or more personal?

This is evidenced by the 12 deaths of women this year, victims of violence from their partners, as well as the 75,000 complaint cases for various reasons. In fact, while the law sets the tone and affirms the principle, there is still a long way to go in terms of its implementation.

The situation in the Department is not very encouraging either.

In this regard, the Equality Club, co-chaired by the prefect of Alpes-Maritimes and Gaëlle Lenfant, Vice-President of the PACA Region, met for the presentation of the 2016 Departmental Action Plan for real Gender Equality in the presence of Pascale Boistard, Secretary of State for Women’s Rights, who traveled to Nice.

This presentation is part of this year’s Weeks of Equality and Career Diversity.

The members of the steering committee worked on the action plan in public policies (axis 1), the benefits of workplace diversity (axis 2), career diversity: a lever for professional integration (axis 3), guaranteeing gender equality from childhood (axis 4), and cross-cutting actions (axis 5).

The Equality Club brings together around a hundred people, gathered to anchor equality at the heart of professional practices, in economic, institutional, educational, social, and parental spheres, with the aim of creating a dynamic conducive to change.

“The vastness of the subjects requires cross-cutting practices,” says Pascale Boistard with conviction, who is touring France to assess the situation and encourage local stakeholders.

“Equality is built everywhere and all the time. The movement to create a more modern and equal world is underway,” is her conclusion. Not without a final nod: “I urge men to do their part to make equality a true added value, a shared value.”
