In front of a packed hall with various participants (elected officials, mayors, artists, and association leaders), a particularly pleased Eric Ciotti closed the curtain on the 17th season of the Estivales, the cultural event organized by the General Council which involves nearly all of the department’s municipalities (over 150).
Funded to the tune of 1.25 million euros, which allows for free performances offered to an ever-growing audience (more than 300,000 spectators attended the 489 shows of singing, dance, jazz, music hall, classical, contemporary and traditional music, and theater), the Estivales strive for quality offerings and public satisfaction within the framework of territorial solidarity.
This grand popular festival is based on three combined goals: art everywhere, for everyone, and in all its forms.
And with the majority that will be theirs with next year’s 18th edition, the Estivales wish to continue their beautiful story!
This is the sentiment of Alain Frére, Vice-President of the General Council and spiritual father of this event: “I express all my pride because what we accomplish has no equal in other French departments. What we do is very important because, in times of crisis, we have nothing left but culture!”
The final word goes to Eric Ciotti: “Our commitment continues with an annual budget of 15 million euros, 9.5 of which will benefit the associative network.”
The curtain closes but is ready to rise, in a few weeks, for another strong act of the General Council’s cultural policy: “It’s Not Classical!”
So, see you soon!
