Due to the dissolution of the National Assembly by Emmanuel Macron and the second round of legislative elections, the Etape du Tour, a cyclosportive event in Nice, has been moved to July 6, 2024.
Because of the legislative elections that will take place on June 30 and July 7 in France, the Etape du Tour, with 15,000 registrants, was supposed to take place on Sunday, July 7 between Nice and the Col de la Couillole, but it has been ultimately canceled. Christian Estrosi, the organizer from ASO, and the Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes, Hugues Moutouh, have decided to move up the Etape du Tour for amateurs by one day. However, the course of the amateur cyclosportive event remains unchanged.
The cancellation of the day on July 7 is unavoidable. This allows voters in the Alpes-Maritimes to go to the polling stations on Sunday, July 7 for the second round of the legislative elections. By moving it up by one day, the 15,000 participants will be able to enjoy their passion for a day.
To allow for the harmonization of the day, the organizers have decided to extend the opening hours of the village and the collection of race bibs. The opening will take place from Thursday morning until Friday evening at 9 p.m. To reach the finish line, shuttle services will also be reorganized and remain unchanged.
