The Euromed cities are seeking their path.

Nice is resolutely oriented towards Mediterranean countries. In this dynamic, the EUROMED Cities Network, chaired since November 2008 by Christian Estrosi, contributes to encouraging local authorities to engage in the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.

With around a hundred members, including European and Mediterranean cities (45 European cities and 55 cities from the Middle East and North Africa) and 12 partner networks, EuroMED has fostered, since its creation, innovative Euro-Mediterranean projects. These projects are based on successful friendships and cooperation between cities from the countries on both shores of the Mediterranean.

To propose new tools to continue developing the EUROMED Cities Network and define its links with the European Union bodies, two days of exchanges are organized: one in Nice, this Monday, and another in Brussels, the following day.

On the agenda for this day are open exchanges regarding the functioning of the Network, its positioning, and its strategic areas of intervention. Specifically, the aim is to consider a proposal for a legal status, the establishment of a collaborative internet portal, its positioning with respect to other networks, and its governance, by creating a strategic committee to support the already existing executive.

To enrich the reflection on the Network’s positioning and strategic orientations, specialists will speak on themes such as the Mediterranean environment and biodiversity, economic development, light technologies of the smart city, energy management, health and aging, and culture.
