This year, the Chamber of Crafts and Artisanship of the Alpes-Maritimes aimed, more than ever, to emphasize the exploration and exchange surrounding traditional and passionate crafts during the “European Days of Crafts.” This involves discovering specific skills and age-old techniques, as well as facilitating exchanges between art professionals and the general public.
“The Crafts are the showcase of excellence and the alliance of traditional craftsmanship with innovation,” stated Pierre Galvez, the president of the Chamber of Crafts, during the inauguration of this event held in the baroque setting of the Palais Lascaris.

April 4, 5, and 6, 2014: Workshops open and events organized throughout the Alpes-Maritimes department.

April 4: Hosting middle school students for demonstrations and an introduction to Art ceramics.

April 4, 5, and 6: Workshops introducing Art mosaics.

April 5 and 6: Demonstrations of rare skills and crafts, and visits to workshops.

April 4, 5, and 6 from 10 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 6 pm:
– Exhibition of contemporary jewelry dedicated to Scandinavian artists.
– Open studios of creators for the public.
– Guided tour “Encounter Around Contemporary Jewelry” organized on Saturday, April 5, at 3 pm, (meeting at the Tourist Office located in the Haut de Cagnes).

April 5 at 3:30 pm: Café-meeting hosted by Véronique Monod, designer of bottles for major perfume brands.
LE CANNET Discovering Crafts

NICE
From April 4 to 6, 2014: In Nice, contemporary furniture presentation at the prestigious Palais Lascaris, an 18th-century patrician residence, historical monument, and municipal museum of Genoese baroque style. These creations were made by artisans:
– Philippe BRESSON, cabinetmaker, creator of contemporary furniture.
– Clément FERRARI, artist blacksmith, creator of contemporary furniture.
– Alain FORTUNATO, upholsterer.
This event will also juxtapose ancient and contemporary creations for the delight of collectors and enthusiasts of exceptional objects and furniture.
April 4: Conference on the restoration of glass and earthen objects, hosted by Magali ASQUIER (licensed by the Museum of France)
– Conference on crafts, hosted by Lycée PASTEUR in Nice.
Sunday, April 6: Concluding these three days dedicated to Crafts, the CMA 06 organizes a “Promenade of Crafts” in the heart of Nice’s historic center.
This event includes:
– A temporary exhibition featuring twenty exhibitors on Pierre Gautier square with craft demonstrations, notably animated by the Companions of the Devoir of Cagnes-sur-Mer and the CMA06 training center.
– A discovery itinerary combining exploration of Nice’s historical center and visits to 4 arts workshops operating there: – Atelier Denis DECLERC, luthier; Atelier TRANSPARENCE, Thierry WINTERBERT, designer of decorative objects; Atelier YLOE, LE GALL – Romain, creator of costume jewelry; – Atelier COAT D’AZUR – Sabine LEBEGUE, fashion designer.
This tour will conclude at the Palais Lascaris, allowing the discovery of a splendid baroque-style venue.
