The exhibition “Iwan Baan at the Forum of Urbanism and Architecture”

The Urban Planning and Architecture Forum of the City of Nice will host the exhibition “Iwan Baan, Diary of a Year of Architecture Around the World” until September 15, 2012. It is designed and produced by Villa Noailles, based on the personal journal of the Dutch photographer-traveler Iwan Baan and the testimonies of twelve architects about his work.

Visiting Iwan Baan’s exhibition is like embarking on a journey around the world: from the Californian desert to Japanese cities, from Northern Europe to South America, from the African continent to Asia, through projects as diverse as museums, housing, schools, a center for the homeless, or Olympic stadiums. This remarkable traveler continuously traverses the globe to observe and capture the architecture of the present time and the life that unfolds alongside it.

During this summer period, when Nice is more open to the world than ever, the Urban Planning and Architecture Forum, true to its primary mission of guidance and enlightenment, invites its visitors to look around them just as they view these photographs. By looking at their city the way Iwan Baan observes the world, the people of Nice will rediscover what is unique and timeless about it, at a time when the urban policy being implemented in Nice is shaping our city of tomorrow on a metropolitan scale.
