From July 11th to August 23rd, 2012, 16 young adolescents, recovered or in remission from serious illnesses, will embark on two expeditions, each lasting 3 weeks, in the Mediterranean.
Since 2006, the Sailors of Life association has been taking young former patients on summer sea expeditions. They share their adventures with children in hospitals through a game that takes place online. Every day, children in hospitals solve puzzles about the sea, nature, the environmentโฆ
Their answers are illustrated with videos, photos, and texts from the MWDC’s logbooks created on the Sailors of Life’s sailboat. The adventure is shared with around 2,500 hospitalized children in France and Belgium (data from 2010).
The project aims to stimulate recovery, break isolation, and give hope to children fighting illness.
