Inaugurated on August 27 by the mayor of Nice, the extension of the Saint-Jean d’Angély garden was presented. The total area of the green space is 5,000 m².
Started in April 2025, the completion of the extension of the Saint-Jean d’Angély garden, to the east of Nice, was inaugurated by several members of the Nice city council. After nearly four months of work, the total area of the land has increased from 4,000 to 5,000 m². Music, activities, and a snack were arranged for this event.
“This project is part of a revitalization of the entire sector, particularly in terms of quality. There was a lack of green spaces. I can tell you that the residents of the neighboring buildings are delighted. Previously, there were cars, traffic, garbage, and squats,” said Jean-Marc Giaume, Deputy for Scientific Culture.
Adapting to the heat
According to the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, petitions were sent to him to address the difficulties encountered before the park’s extension work. In total, it includes more than 2,500 trees and various plantings.
Inaugurated in 2022, the park features soil permeabilization, eleven new shade trees, and an educational garden with 13 panels. These signs come from the natural history museum whose shrubs are selected for the site. In addition to this, seven pieces of exercise equipment are placed around the garden by the city sports department.
