The Falabrac Fabrik

It is primarily an association founded in 2007 and bound by a strong collective. Its ambition: to create a place highlighting local craftsmanship and the reuse of materials.
The café-canteen opened in 2008. It offers seasonal local and organic products at very affordable prices. The cook, Martine, offers delicious homemade dishes at lunchtime. The meal becomes an opportunity to gather, share, and mingle.

Supported by five employees, the association operates thanks to numerous volunteers. It collaborates with many structures in the social and solidarity economy: Collectif des diables bleus, Artisans du Monde, Les jardins de Montaleigne… It has about 300 members, all of whom are aware of sustainable development. For everyone, a different way of living and consuming: sustainable, local, artisanal, recycled, fair, and solidary.

Dissemination Venue

Receptive to all good ideas, the Falabrac Fabrik promotes social and solidarity bonds through numerous events. It organizes theme days and evenings: poetry nights, storytelling, concerts, debates, parent/child meetings, massages… As a venue for artistic dissemination, the shop offers openings/exhibitions. The sale of objects created by artisans allows them to be known by other means than markets and to highlight their ecological and ethical inclination.

The audience is varied and intergenerational. Children have their reserved space and can trade their toys and books. Girls come to browse, young people surf the internet via wifi, and older people sit around a coffee. A small library is also available.

Projects

Every Monday evening, there is a direct distribution of vegetable baskets with the producer. In this continuation, a project for a Purchase Group/Services Grocery is on track to provide organic and local products at cost price.

Another objective is to acquire a plot of land to establish a shared garden. Those who wish could thus cultivate their vegetable garden.

Finally, the association wants to develop its “fabric recycling” activity, already initiated through the thrift store.

It also wishes to foster the emergence of similar places, within a regional dynamic supporting new or similar projects.

In the meantime, visit this rich and convivial place that is Falabrac Fabrik.
