Eric GUILLOTEAU, a PhD candidate in History and Archaeology, and specialist in fortifications, will be the speaker.
Theme of the Conference:
He will present the excavations carried out over the past three years at the site of the Castle Hill of Nice—including the remains of the city’s old cathedral—as part of the Joint Research Program led by Marc Bouiron, director of the archaeological service of the city of Nice.
You will discover the current state of knowledge of researchers regarding historical texts, iconography, and archaeological data that help understand the evolution of the fortifications of the castle of the counts of Provence, and the fortress of the dukes of Savoy between the 14th and 18th centuries.
Eric Guilloteau contributed to the “Science” section of the book “The Last Stronghold” co-written by Marc Bouiron and Fabrice Anfosso, on the fall of the Castle of Nice in the 17th century, published by Mémoires Millénaires editions.
This conference will be followed by an aperitif starting at 7:45 PM.
