Year after year, the “Les Folies des Lacs” Festival attracts an ever-increasing number of spectators.
In 2015, 3,000 people were able to enjoy these magnificent open-air concerts. For 15 years, this free festival has become a summer event not to be missed.
For the 2016 edition, the program is rich in diverse sounds and spread over three different locations.
For the opening concert, on Friday, July 22 at the Church of Saint-Dalmas, at 9 PM, international soprano Sophie Monaco teams up with baritone Loan Hotenski to perform pieces by Mozart and Verdi. The two opera singers will perform duets and bravura arias from the operas Don Giovanni, Le Nozze di Figaro, La Traviata, and La Forza del Destino. Stรฉphane Eliot will accompany them on the keyboard for an exceptional musical journey through the works of two music geniuses.
Two other concerts in two exceptional settings:
On July 23 at Lake La Colmiane: at 2:30 PM accordionist Richard Galliano will be accompanied by the Cannes PACA Philharmonic Orchestra, and at 4:30 PM, KING KING, an English blues/rock band that has been awarded several times at the British Blues Awards.
On July 24 at Lake Nรจgre: after a 2-hour hike in the bucolic landscapes of Mercantour, the closing concert, at an altitude of 2,350 meters, will offer spectators a unique moment.
Starting at noon, several groups will perform by the lake: Les Brianรงonneurs, Les Chลurs du Mercantour, Les chลurs des Rugueus, Cantu Nostrale, before making way for the great pianist Franรงois-Renรฉ Duchable, accompanied by mezzo-soprano Sandrine Sutter.
