The festival LES PLAGES DU RIRE concluded last night with a grand finale featuring the Nice-born artist Laurent Barat, who presented his new show directed by Pascal Lรฉgitimus in front of more than 900 people.

The captivated audience was not mistaken in giving him a standing ovation at the end of his show, assisted by Guillermo Guiz, the winner of the festival’s talent show, who had effectively warmed up the crowd in the opening act.

Having become the leading figure of Nice comedy in just a few years, under the watchful eye of his mentor NOELLE PERNA and coach GAD ELMALEH, Laurent Barat is on the verge of achieving his dream in PARIS, performing to sold-out crowds every night at the Thรฉรขtre du Marais. The year 2016 is expected to be his year of national recognition.

This year, the festival aimed to innovate by taking the risk of staging the boulevard play “A Gauche en sortant de l’Ascenseur” outdoors with Stรฉphane Plaza, which was a great success… A bet and challenge successfully met!

The Opening Night played to a sold-out crowd for the first time in the festival’s history, with over 2,000 people coming to see the current comedy star in France: Jeff Panacloc and his sidekick Jean Marc.

The Tremplin du rire, organized at Place Massรฉna, now enjoys nationwide reputation, attracting contestants from all over France and even from Belgium. It will evolve into a new format next year with a free evening at the Thรฉรขtre de verdure to open the festival.

In total, more than 5,000 people attended the 2015 edition, making the PLAGES DU RIRE of NICE one of the largest comedy festivals in the southeast of France.

Given the success of this edition and the festival’s strong financial health, the festival will be held again for the 2016 edition from August 2 to 6, 2016. Save the date.
