The festivities of “La Castellada” began last night with a “Baleti.” From August 8 to 19, on the Castle Hill, 14 skits will recount the history of Nice, from the Greek period to today.
It was a first last night! Since the lockdown, each summer, the city of Nice offers “La Castellada.” An event on the Castle Hill that traces the history of Nice through the centuries. The 2025 edition, from August 8 to 19, does not break the tradition and is even unprecedented. For the first time, the event was preceded, last night, by a “Baleti.”
A show organized to kick off the festivities, with a concert by the group “Dous de Dous,” and traditional Niรงoise dances. One of the “Dama d’Ounour” of the “Rรฉgina dei Mai” was present. The various communes of the Nissart hinterland were honored. A two-hour show, with free access for the public, in an idyllic setting, at the top of the Castle Hill.ย
Recounting the history of Nice through 14 skits
On the program for this 2025 edition of “La Castellada,” the Miranda company offers, every evening from August 8 to 19, starting at 9 PM, a show of more than two hours. Through 14 skits, Miranda recounts the entire history and heritage of the city. From the ancient Greek era, through Segurane, Garibaldi, the roaring twenties, up to today. It will be possible to admire historical costumes.ย
“The city of Nice is often presented as a seaside city, but Nice is a history and a heritage,” states one of the organizers. The goal of this event is to bring people together in a friendly atmosphere around the history and identity of Nice. For Thierry Surace, director and artistic director of Miranda, “La Castellada is a pleasure to rediscover our history and our heritage.“
