“The Fifth Element” of “Lou Festin dou pouort”

This popular port festival will offer you street performances and shows, culinary activities, water activities on the water…

A fireworks display will light up the Nice sky and you will be able to waltz in popular dances. And if your stomach is rumbling, food stalls will stop this sometimes annoying music.

This event organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nice Côte d’Azur, the city of Nice, the General Council, the Regional Council and CANCA will take place at the Port of Nice on Saturday, September 2, 2006 starting at 7:00 PM.

Entry to the festival and access to activities will be free.

The Port of Nice will be divided into 4 large zones corresponding to the 4 elements:

• Quai Infernet – Quai Lunel: Fire Element
• Quai Papacino – Quai Cassini: Air Element
• Quai des Deux Emmanuel: Earth Element
• Quai des Docks – Quai d’Entrecasteaux – Quai Riboty: Water Element

A fifth zone located on the Customs quay will symbolize Nice and its port, the 5th element.

“Lou Festin dou pouort” in brief:

• 7 PM/10:30 PM: Street performances and musical activities throughout the port, artistic performances, laser shows, synchronized swimming demonstrations, jet ski and diving, fun activities and workshops for children… On the port, food and tasting stalls, village of renowned chefs; all restaurants will be open with terraces.

• 10:30 PM/10:40 PM: Fireworks fired from the Breakwater.

• 10:40 PM/12:30 AM: Popular dances with 3 orchestras of different styles (South America, international varieties, Nice group).

Program: 5 activity zones

Admiral Infernet Quay & Lunel Quay: Red Color Code Zone/FIRE
• atmosphere: sound of fire, virtual flames
• activity: street troupe on the dragon theme, juggling show and fire eater preceding the pyrotechnic show (10:30 PM)
• Popular dance group: international varieties with the “Benty Brothers”

Papacino Quay & Cassini Quay: Green Color Code Zone/AIR
• atmosphere: sound of wind, green vegetation on stage
• activity: pilou, flag contest, hot air balloon boat.
• popular dance group: South American type, salsa with “Diabloson Salsa”.

Quai des Deux Emmanuel: Yellow Color Code Zone/EARTH
• atmosphere: sound of volcanic eruption, stage in round aluminum structure (volcano-shaped) lit up
• activity: street troupe, live art, graphics, dances

Docks Quay & Entrecasteaux & Riboty: Blue Color Code Zone/WATER
• atmosphere: sound of waves, musical fountains
• activity: diving and jet ski demonstration and water polo, synchronized swimming, water jousting.
• popular dance group: Nice group “Nux Vomica”

Customs Quay: White Color Code Zone/THE PORT OF NICE
• atmosphere: decoration on the Nice theme (Nice flag as stage backdrop) and Nice folk music.
• activity: highlighting Nice heritage, drawing contest
• popular dance group: Nice music with “Las Pagat Lou Capeu”
