As part of World No Tobacco Day, the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes and the Cancer League are organizing a conference on the theme “Fighting Tobacco in the Alpes-Maritimes,” with the presence of Professor Maurice Schneider, President of the Cancer League of Alpes-Maritimes.

During this conference, the risks associated with tobacco, the composition of cigarettes, the benefits of quitting, and the support available for those who wish to quit smoking will be presented by the chief physician of the adult health action service of the General Council and the delegate for prevention and promotion of screenings at the National Cancer League.
Smoking: One of the Leading Causes of Preventable Deaths
The global epidemic kills nearly 6 million people each year, among whom 600,000 are passive smokers. Various preventive actions are being undertaken by the General Council, notably through the Health Info Bus and the Cancer Info Bus.
