Organized by the United Guardians Brotherhood International Associations, the Philippine Independence Day celebrates the sovereignty of the Republic of the Philippines, following over 300 years of Spanish colonization.
The community of nationals from this country consists of several thousand people residing in Beausoleil, Monaco, Antibes, and naturally Nice, where a consulate is also present.
Officials from the embassy in Paris and the consulate in Marseille will participate in the protocol part of this event, which is held for the first time in the Azure capital.
The independence of the Philippines was officially celebrated for the first time by General Emelio Aguinaldo in Kawit, Cavite province, in 1898. Since then, this day has become a national holiday and is celebrated annually with traditional songs and folk dances.

Thus, Nice reaffirms its vocation as a city open to the international community.
