“The magic of children’s drawings undoubtedly reflects the joy they find in drawing, the time of childhood, the poetry that inhabits them.” Bernard Chambaz
Everyone knows the famous “stick figure” that a child draws to represent themselves… How do children around the world represent themselves? Does a European child draw themselves the same way as an Asian or African child?
With a window and a camera, Gilles Porte went to meet them around the globe, proposing that they find their place within the frame with a self-portrait… A journey that starts with the birth of a “stick figure” and ends with the appearance of words…
A film full of immense poetry, an artistic and civic approach that highlights, through the creativity of children, their right to expression, their right to identity, and, beyond that, all the rights of the child.
“It took me a lifetime to learn how to draw like a child.” Pablo Picasso
