Nice Premium: Céline Lacroix, how is your preparation for the cantonal election in Nice’s 1st district going?
Céline Lacroix: We are capitalizing on the momentum of the Nice Autrement campaign and aligning with the spirit of its program.
We believe it’s crucial to implement a policy of cooperation among local authorities for efficient management and development of the city’s districts.
NP: It’s a district that has been in the spotlight with the presence of the outgoing General Councilor, Marc Concas, and Deputy Eric Ciotti.
Isn’t it difficult to establish yourself among these two candidates?
CL: It’s true that our candidacy places us in what may seem a challenging situation, but it’s also one of the most interesting.
As a candidate, I may not bring extensive political experience, but I am committed to hard work, listening to the citizens, and dedicating myself to building a shared future. The “cantonal” team I’ve formed with Lucien Fouques, my deputy, benefits from his long-term political and civic commitment.
NP: What would your projects for the district be if you were elected?
CL: We have developed a program that addresses various problems facing the first district of Nice and offers solutions. Our three main focuses are on quality of life, economic development, and a policy aimed at creating connections—linking culture to the economy, which in turn will strengthen the link between the economy and the social/human aspects.
For example, regarding the Port of Nice, we aim to optimize and secure the existing facilities, that is, to preserve our historical heritage while also safeguarding our environmental heritage. The commercial revitalization of the district’s neighborhoods will involve unified management of neighborhood resources, ensuring the first district assumes its deserved place as the hub combining art, culture, craftsmanship, and commerce in a renewed economic dynamic.
NP: Assuming the second round presents a Concas-Ciotti duel, how will you position yourself?
CL: We can only endorse a political project advocating solidarity for balanced economic and social development! Our opponent remains a right-wing policy leading to more inequality and favoring economics at the expense of humanity.
NP: Finally, what message would you like to send to the women and men of Nice’s 1st district?
CL: This first district possesses multiple riches—history, culture, commerce, craftsmanship, men, and women who can undoubtedly secure its future.
I aim to engage with you in a commercial and cultural dynamic, building on these diverse riches, which will enhance the attractiveness of the district for the people of Nice and all who love our city.
The first district will be the district of cultural heritage, attached to its history just as much as it is to carrying innovations.
