Every year in France, 50,000 people lose their lives due to a cardiac arrest. The only chance of survival for a victim of cardiac arrest is to receive defibrillation within the minutes following the episode. Every minute lost results in a 10% decrease in survival chances.
In response to this, the municipality has decided to launch a large-scale awareness campaign about cardiac massage in partnership with the association 20,000 Lives and CNP Assurance.
This Thursday, the municipality will launch free cardiac massage awareness workshops intended for the people of Nice in the 13 Leisure Animation Centers.
This follows the installation of 133 cardiac defibrillators in public buildings, the large awareness day on the use of these defibrillators that took place on June 18 at Place Garibaldi (where 1,500 people were trained), and the training of 500 city agents of Nice, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, and the CCAS.
At CAL Notre Dame, during this first workshop conducted by the Red Cross, Françoise Monier and Olivier Guerin, deputy mayors of Nice, will present the proceedings and registration modalities for these life-saving training sessions.
