Good news for the book sector. Bookstores will be allowed to remain open in the event of a weekend lockdown, according to a decree published on Friday, February 26, in the Official Journal. Bookstores will be able to open on Saturdays and Sundays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., states this decree.
During the November lockdown, bookstores were allowed to sell reserved books to clients at the entrance in a “click and collect” manner. However, they could not admit the public inside, as they were not considered essential. This measure was unanimously criticized by bookstores, writers, and publishers.
Good news for many, as reading has become a companion during long periods of idleness… The closure of parks and gardens and the prohibition of walking along the Promenade des Anglais and Boulevard Pilatte will encourage picking up a good book.
