When a newspaper ceases publication, it is always a small flame of freedom of information that extinguishes! We lamented the closure of the Patriote when it happened before the summer, and we welcome its return from today. We wish the best success to those who have committed themselves to this endeavor.
For its promoters, the new newspaper aligns with the values and battles of a democratic and opinion press of the Alpes Maritimes, which has always managed to recover from multiple trials. However, the new newspaper is not a reissue of the weekly Le Patriote, which ceased publication in May, reminding everyone that a newspaper can also disappear.
It is a new newspaper whose conditions for existence had to be invented and patiently woven since last July. With a subscription campaign that started in July and yielded positive results, showing a shared willingness among a large diversity of people, especially in the social and civic movement, to take on this challenge to maintain pluralism and an alternative thinking in the Alpes Maritimes.
