On January 18th, the best men’s Torball teams will compete at the Albert Malatesta Sports Complex in Nice. It’s a sporting event to discover and open to everyone.
This Saturday, January 18, 2025, Nice will host the first leg matches of the French Men’s Torball Championship Division 1. From 9:30 AM to 5 PM, six teams will face off at the Albert Malatesta Sports Complex, located at 64 Cyrille Besset Avenue. Entry is free and open to the public.
Torball is a team sport adapted for visually impaired and blind people. Players orient themselves using the sound of a ball equipped with bells. Concentration and precision are essential in this fast and strategic game.
Especially since the Eagles recently secured 3rd place in the last international men’s Torball tournament!
A competition worth seeing
The event brings together six teams from all over France. Among them, AVH 31 Toulouse, the reigning champions, and ANICES Nice, 2024 runners-up, will be present. “The Nice team is very motivated this year. We hope to do even better than last year”, says their coach, François Dumont. The ANICES team will include Mikael Maunier, Cédric Bouchet, Yacine Ait Seguer Prussia, Gilles Brand, and Sébastien Filippini.
The other teams competing are CAH Clermont-Ferrand, ASCND Marseille, CS Lisieux Handisport, and Grenoble Handisport. These first-leg matches will be an opportunity for each team to score important points before the rest of the competition.
In addition to the competition, the organization is doing everything possible to welcome a large audience. An audiodescription system will be offered so everyone can follow the matches and understand the key moments of the game.
The organizers encourage the residents of Nice and the surrounding areas to come support the players. “Your presence in the stands is essential for our teams. It brings energy and support to our players”, emphasizes a representative of ANICES.
