-As part of the 2011 edition of the Nice Carnival “King of the Mediterranean,” the street theater company, Plasticiens Volants, will welcome, during the opening show on February 18 at Place Massรฉna, the King and the Queen, with a show on the marine theme.

The giant puppets (fish, jellyfish, moray eel…) inflated with helium, flying over 10 meters high, will also be featured throughout the Carnival, in the parade floats and flower battles, from February 19 to March 6.

A regular at the Carnival for 10 years, Plasticiens Volants has just released (November 2010) a beautiful book “From our dreams, let us occupy the sky” tracing its 35 years of existence, a playful and surprising art book.

-What a journey it has been since the first balloon flights in the 1970s! Today, Plasticiens Volants is one of the most renowned and sought-after street theater companies in the world. “From our dreams, let us occupy the sky” recounts the adventure of this unique team that has always managed to gather the necessary skills to turn the wildest ideas into reality. The main chronological text is framed by testimonials from artists who have collaborated, to varying degrees, in the creative process. The techniques used to design and create the large inflatable figures are explained and richly illustrated, while tour diaries and various testimonials highlight the spirit of the collective that has made a mark at the Barcelona and Sydney Olympics as well as at the Nice Carnival and the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal…
