A new demonstration of solidarity from the sports world with the underprivileged through the donation of a check by OGC Nice to the Food Bank to benefit Nice associations. During the football match Nice vs. Bordeaux on November 3rd, OGC Nice renewed its initiative of deducting โฌ1 from each paid entry in favor of Inter Secours Nice (ISN), a group of Nice associations partnered with the Food Bank.
Mr. Jean-Pierre Rivere, President of OGC Nice, came this Friday, December 6th, with Mr. Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Cรดte dโAzur Metropolis, Mrs. Joรซlle Martinaux, Deputy Mayor of Nice in charge of Social Affairs and Solidarity, and Mr. Joseph Calza, Deputy Mayor of Nice in charge of the Plaine and Coteaux Proximity Pole, to present the check for โฌ11,833 to the Food Bank to be converted into food for the associations of ISN.
Let’s recall that thanks to the check of โฌ8,600 given last year by OGC Nice, the Food Bank was able to distribute for free over 15,000 cans of sardines as well as apple compotes and melted cheeses to ISN associations (Salvation Army, Red Cross, La Maraude, MIR and the Servants of Mary) for their summer rounds.
On the occasion of this visit, the President of OGC Nice and the Mayor highlighted the importance of the action carried out by the Food Bank and its Partner Associations, and they wanted to thank all the volunteers for their commitment and the amount of work they provide for free throughout the year (equivalent to 26 full-time jobs) for the benefit of the most disadvantaged.
Christian Estrosi also assured that the 2014 budget he is going to present and which should be voted on by the end of the year, continues the annual operating subsidy which helps cover half of our rent (the other half being covered by the General Council), as well as an investment subsidy.
