The forgotten ones from the aid fund after July 14th: Patrick Allemand requests an extension of the compensation perimeter

A total amount of 2 million euros will be allocated to businesses following the events of July 14th. An exceptional fund named “Les oubliés du fonds” (“The Forgotten of the Fund”) created by the Côte d’Azur Metropolis. This aid is released solely for companies with fewer than 20 employees and whose turnover has decreased by at least 20%.

During today’s Metropolitan Council, this initiative will be voted on. This aid will be allocated to a specific sector where the most impacted businesses by this event are located.

“We can only commend this solidarity initiative, which mobilizes, besides the Metropolis, the Regional Council, the Departmental Council, the metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), and the regional CCI for a total fund of 2 million euros,” explained Patrick Allemand in his opening remarks.

A problem highlighted by the elected officials: “The resolution specifies that, to be eligible for the fund, the business must be located within the geographic perimeter of the tourist area limited to the west by boulevard Gambetta and to the north by avenue Thiers. However, to the west of boulevard Gambetta, on rue de France, rue Dante, avenue de la Californie, in Magnan, in Bosquets, and up to Carras, businesses have suffered.”

“But voted in its current state, this initiative will be profoundly unjust!” declared Patrick Allemand, a municipal councilor for the Socialist Party. This is why he requests that the perimeter be extended. “On the side of Gambetta, rue de France, rue Dante, avenue de la Californie, Magnan, Bosquet, and Carras… businesses are also suffering!” he explains.

According to Patrick Allemand, it would not be fair to ignore these “small businesses,” which have just as much economic weight for the neighborhood and the city.

“We therefore request the extension of the compensation perimeter up to Carras” before the deliberation at the Metropolitan Council.

Will he be listened to by a majority as solid as a rock?
