The Francophonie Games “for” and “by” the people of Nice.

Latest News

In just under a year, the City of Nice will host the VII Francophone Games, the largest sporting and cultural event in the Francophonie. From September 6 to 15, 2013, this major cultural and sporting event will embody the values of excellence, diversity, and solidarity at the heart of a project by Nice for the people of Nice.

franco-np-2.jpg Created in 1987 and organized every four years, the Francophone Games represent the only Francophone event capable of bringing together more than 3,000 young people in a spirit of celebration, exchange, and openness. Participating in sports events and cultural competitions, they will all share 10 unforgettable days in the heart of Nice, under the same banner: that of Francophone Friendship.

And for this, the residents of Nice have a role to play both in terms of organization and as Ambassadors and hosts of this great event. Educational projects, artistic or sporting performances, or even voluntary support for the organization, it is the strengths and skills of each and everyone that will ensure the complete success of these upcoming Francophone Games.

3,000 participants and more than 50 delegations, 1,200 organizers, over 150,000 spectators expected over the 10 days of competition, more than 200 accredited journalists, nearly 12,000 press articles, 60 hours of TV programming and more than 600 hours cumulatively, over 80 million viewers, 50 million radio listeners, and 200,000 unique visitors expected on the website. Figures that clearly demonstrate the importance of an event that will undoubtedly mark a year 2013 under the sign of the Francophonie.

As for the objectives of these Games, the program is vast and varied: to promote peace and development through meetings and exchanges of young Francophones, to bring together Francophone countries and contribute to international solidarity, to promote gender equality, to promote the originality of Francophone cultures, to encourage the emergence of young Francophone artistic talents on the international scene, to contribute to Francophone sporting succession with a view to participation in other major events, and, of course, to promote the French language.

So, if you want to be part of those who will make these upcoming Francophone Games, simply send your contribution (project proposals, volunteering, etc.) by email to frederic.jugnet@nice2013.fr or for further information by telephone at + 33 (0)4 97 13 57 00.
