Of course, this premiere had enough to make our referees a bit nervous, even particular. Stéphane Lannoy chose to whistle for everything during the first 5 minutes, then loosened the reins. Overall a good approach, except that, staying too close to the actions, not his usual habit but certainly influenced by the stakes of the match, he did not perceive as well as he could have interventions that might have deserved administrative sanction (notably a nasty tackle at the 29′).

No decision directly weighed on the match. But it is still necessary to analyze his distribution of yellow cards that could have harmful effects as early as the next match. Indeed, when we count the fouls committed and the warnings distributed it gives: Netherlands 13 fouls, of which De Jong 1 foul = 1 yellow and Van Persie 2 fouls = 1 yellow (and luckily he was not sent off for kicking the ball despite the whistle) and Denmark 20 fouls, of which C. Poulsen 5 fouls = 0 yellow and Kahlenberg 6 fouls = 0 yellow! As for the assistants, only Eric Dansault seemed comfortable. The second match will be better.
