The Accueil des Villes Franรงaises (AVF) association in Cannes is hosting the media for the first time since it was established in 1972. It aims to raise awareness among the general public.
The Cannes AVF, co-chaired by Jean-Marie Masset, plays a crucial role: welcoming newcomers to the department, here in Cannes. The primary goal of the association is to receive newly settled retirees in the city.
It targets inactive individuals, whether couples or singles. The co-president in charge of activities, Claudine Mellac, states: “Our mission is to help the elderly, to fight against their isolation.”
Preventing the exclusion of retirees is the primary objective of the volunteers, who are often retirees themselves, ready to donate their time to AVF.
The association offers various leisure, cultural, and sports activities…
It features diverse workshops such as painting, cooking, bridge, and even cinema outings.
Each AVF member has access to a wide range of activities. Claudine Mellac emphasizes: “We can organize a workshop for two or even just one person, taking into account the wishes of the members.”
The satisfaction and happiness of the retirees are the foundations of AVF.
The vice president in charge of hostesses, Marie-Hรฉlรจne Bouyssou, announces: “We also welcome young people, even though they are much less present; some participate in the proposed activities.”
Advantageous membership fee and welcome subsidy
Volunteer members and participants pay an annual membership fee. It costs 39 euros for a single person and rises to 69 euros for a couple. The fee is considered accessible given the large number of existing activities.
The town hall actively contributes to the development of the association, a vital and essential participation. It provides an annual grant allowing the AVF to endure over time.
