From May 28 to June 8, 2008, fruits and vegetables are celebrated all over France!

This year, the 4th edition of Fresh Attitude Week, beyond its preventive purpose, will remind us that fresh fruits and vegetables are primarily about pleasure and great taste. Better and less expensive, seasonal fruits and vegetables should be favored. We can take advantage of the multitude of products offered by the seasons to vary our desires, vary our cooking, and thus gradually introduce our children to the pleasure of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Pleasure and taste are very important levers in learning how to eat well. They can also contribute to curbing the excesses of an unbalanced diet—too rich, too fatty, too sugary—and thus help improve dietary behaviors and health in general.

This year more than ever, the participants of Fresh Attitude Week will be present to initiate numerous actions …

IN GRASSE

♦ The City of Grasse adopts the Fresh Attitude
Saturday, May 31: Place du Cours Honoré Cresp
Inauguration of Fresh Attitude Week 2008 at 11:30 AM
Exhibition of works by children from nurseries, schools, and local associations on the theme of consuming 5 fruits or vegetables per day with an award ceremony at 11:30 AM.

• Stands and animations from 10 AM to 6 PM at the Place du Cours Honoré Cresp, open to all:
– Nutritional information stand for everyone: nutritional advice from a dietitian, nutrition documentation, recipe sheets, tasting of a fresh fruit or vegetable. Hosted by the Atelier Santé Ville – CCAS de Grasse in partnership with Auchan and the MIN.

– Nutrition Quiz Information Stand specifically for the elderly, children, or how to combine budget and dietary balance, offered by the League Against Cancer and Mutualité Française. Presence of a dietitian, health prevention facilitators.

– Workshops, advice, animations, and fun games with the Fitness Bus “Bite into health with full teeth” from Mutuelles du Soleil.

– Sports Information Stand with the presentation of a summary guide of different sports sites in the community, sports associations, and various activities conducted by the city’s sports department.

– “Sports Discovery” Stand: Gym for seniors from 10 AM to 12 PM and throughout the day: Badminton, Mountain Biking, Rollerblading, Speed Ball, Double Dutch. Hosted by the Youth Service and a sports educator from the City of Grasse and the Badminton Club of Grasse. Demonstrations

– Visit three gardens of the city of Grasse with the Animation Heritage Service from 3 PM to 5 PM: discovering the distant origins of plants but also fruits and vegetables.

– From 3 PM onwards: planning of a balanced meal as part of the “Eat better, Move more” multi-district project in partnership with residents and associations, followed by a festive meal tasting from 7 PM (with dance entertainment).

Monday, June 2:

– Visit of the Marché d’Intérêt National of Nice for a primary school

– Discovery stand, provided by Sodexho with tasting of fruits and vegetables in 2 primary schools from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, hosted by the Red Cross and the League Against Cancer

Tuesday, June 3:

– Discovery stand, provided by Sodexho with tasting of fruits and vegetables in 1 primary school from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, hosted by the League Against Cancer

– Specific “Fresh Attitude” menu delivered by the Inter Hospital Syndicate for residents of Retirement Homes with a nutritional guide

– Educational outing to the Gardens of the Vallée de la Siagne (Organic farming insertion site) for seniors from the Grasse Municipal Retirees Office

– Conference on the nutrition of athletes from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Intercommunal Fencing Hall, organized: “Eating well for better recovery after effort” led by a specialized dietitian

Wednesday, June 4:

– Visit of the Marché d’Intérêt National of Nice for the nutrition project group and seniors from the Grasse Municipal Retirees Office, with the presence of a dietitian

– Surprise rally “In search of the Lost Radish” on the theme of fruits and vegetables for 5 to 7-year-olds from leisure centers in the streets of Grasse, in the morning

Thursday, June 5:

– Bingo organized on the theme of fruits and vegetables for the elderly from the municipal office for retirees

Friday, June 6:

– Conference led by a dietitian open to the general public and especially parents: “Making cooking vegetables a family pleasure” at the House of Childhood.

• “Fresh Attitude” meals at the Rotonde restaurant and for meal delivery service recipients.

• A specific letter presenting the Fresh Attitude action with a booklet on nutrition specifically for over 70s and a green booklet on the environment for all meal delivery recipients.

• Provision of a restaurant kit to decorate the “la Rotonde” restaurant foyer.

• Nutrition awareness and delivery of a nutrition guide by sports educators from the sports department during specific gymnastics sessions and water aerobics for seniors

• Highlighting of fruits and vegetables in 19 partner restaurants that will create Fresh Attitude menus

• Partnership with 16 Grasse merchants who will offer a promotional deal on a fruit and/or vegetable every day.
