At the initiative of the Friends of Democracy and Ciné-Café of Nice, a gathering is organized at 6:30 PM at Place Garibaldi to commemorate the day of the coup in Chile, September 11, 1973.
This demonstration aims to highlight certain aspects of that tragic day for the democracy of this country, and especially the historical figure of its president, Salvador Allende, who was assassinated.
Images of the Allende Monument, erected in the working-class neighborhoods and reproducing the president’s final radio message to the Chilean people on the morning of September 11, 1973, will be displayed.
A reading of Allende’s speech at the UN on December 4, 1972, will be performed by several voices.
