The association Les Amis de Lacassagne is organizing a concert this Sunday, November 18th at 3:30 PM at the Saint-Paul Church in Nice (Pessicart Avenue) featuring the Vocal Ensemble La Sestina to benefit the Antoine Lacassagne Center, whose reputation in cancer treatment and palliative care is well established.

The program of these concerts will feature a cappella works for 4 to 16 voices, themed around the Harmony of the Spheres. This repertoire is imbued with all the Greeks’ science and the intuition that everything is connected, that the beauty of music cannot be separated from the beauty of mathematics, harmonic accuracy, and the relationships between bodies.

Humans have always sought to transcend themselves through Art, and they particularly succeeded during the Renaissance. Between the purity of the Roman motet and the Venetian polychorality, which is to music what perspective is to painting (Anerio, Gesualdo, Gabrieli, …), a few contemporary pieces (Sisask, Gjeilo, Pรคrt, …) will provide a current vision of what has been known since Antiquity as the Harmony of the Spheres.
