The commune of Cagnes-sur-Mer, owner of 16 hectares of wooded land in the Tenchurades valley located in the western part of the municipal territory bordering the communes of Saint-Laurent du Var and La Gaude, has decided to entrust the management of this area to the General Council with the aim of creating a departmental natural park.
– Site Characteristics
This is a valley partially characterized by steep slopes, and its vegetation cover was significantly affected by the 2003 fire.
The major challenge for the Department will therefore be to ensure its protection, especially in regard to the risk of fire, and to enhance it through a balanced management of the vegetation cover and an opening to the public that is appropriate to the features of this site.
The General Council of Alpes-Maritimes is implementing a policy for the management of sensitive natural areas with the aim of protecting natural heritage, in harmony with high public attendance.
The green framework gradually developed since 1960 along the urbanized coastline currently offers an area of approximately 3,500 hectares spread over 12 sites.
