The transformation of the Saint-Jean d’Angely district continues in extension of the developments made around Carré Vauban (real estate complex, local shops, parking lots, Mégarama cinema, pedestrian public spaces…).
Aligning with the city’s climate objectives, through the depaving of soils and the creation of vast cooling zones in an urban environment, this work will create a new green lung of over 4,000m², entirely accessible and adapted for all, in the eastern part of the area. 77 new trees and 2,200 shrubs will be planted there.
Strategically located near the T1 tram line and the future T5 line, at the crossroads of the Saint-Jean d’Angely campus of the University of Côte d’Azur and a complex including mixed housing, a nursing home, and a nursery, this new living space will strengthen community well-being, naturally promote mutual aid between able-bodied persons and those with disabilities, and enhance the neighborhood’s attractiveness.
During the commencement of the works, Christian Estrosi highlighted the ecological aspect of this investment: “The Saint-Jean d’Angely Garden will be a true lung in the face of climate challenges, capturing 2 tons of CO₂ per year. Rendezvous in 8 months to inaugurate this green haven that will have completely replaced the asphalt!”
