In the late afternoon, people gathered on the lawns of the General Council. A holiday scent and many smiles were present in the crowd of these 423 young people. Their common point? The famous high honors. The graduates were warmly congratulated by Christian Estrosi, president of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes, and Jean-Claude Hardouin, rector of the Academy of Nice and chancellor of the Universities. As has been the case for a few years now, the General Council rewards these young people by offering them a prize of 230 euros.

The 2007 session is a good year for the department: high honors registered an increase of 12% compared to 2006. “You are the best! You will be the driving force that our department needs. Excellence is a value that must be urgently rehabilitated at all levels,” enthused Christian Estrosi. He gave special congratulations to Natalia Kapyrine who achieved the highest average of 19.68/20, and whose school, the International Center of Valbonne, has the highest number of high honors.

Victoria Orsini, in the Literary section, and Christian Nesa in the Scientific section, are two exceptional graduates: they are 16 and 15 years old respectively. She will go to Paris where she has been accepted into a prestigious school, aiming for international law. He has enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine. Proof that prestigious schools do not have a monopoly on excellence. Christian Estrosi also pointed out that he expects a lot from the ongoing national reforms so that “the international influence and reputation of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis are enhanced.” But today, for these graduates as well as for other students, there is no talk of studies. They are in vacation mode and are savoring their success. When asked what they will do with the 230 euros, many respond: “celebrate!”
