Two events are being offered by the Alpes-Maritimes General Council as part of the centenary commemoration of the Great War.
Two main events include the first national performance of “Who Will Remember…” by and with Christophe Malavoy at the National Theatre of Nice, this Friday, October 24, 2014, at 8 pm.
Christophe Malavoy brings to life the last days of his grandfather, mortally wounded during an assault in Champagne in March 1915. This performance is an intimate dialogue with death, with his wife, whom he will not see again. A love story accompanied by the Psophos Quartet, who will play pieces by contemporary composers of the Great War: Ravel, Debussy… and illustrated by projections.
For the second event, it will be this Saturday, November 15, at the Palais des Rois Sardes starting at 2 pm, where the conference: “The Great War: Words and Writings” will take place.
This conference, which will be opened by Max Gallo, historian, member of the Académie française, author of a History of the First World War, will bring together specialists of the Great War around the theme of words and writing. Historians, journalists, and actors will come to express their analysis of the importance of writing in a conflict that shook the world, around numerous round tables.
It echoes “The Great Collection,” which allowed the departmental archives to gather hundreds of letters, postcards, and notes exchanged by soldiers with their families and loved ones.
