The General Council votes on the 2013 budget for a year of rigor in management and boldness in action.

The majority’s general counselors voted in unison for the 2013 budget project, a year that promises to be characterized by moderation: “We will have to do better if not more… with less,” proclaimed President Eric Ciotti, blaming the gloomy situation on the new President of the Republic, the new government, and the policy implemented since May 6th, known as the key date: The transition from light to darkness!

However, attention, the PACA Region also faced accusations and sarcasm for its lack of attention and collaboration, especially financial, with local problems. And too bad for those who do not believe in the method of the ‘true false truth’!

That said, the critiques did not stem from the uninhibited but somewhat soft left (represented by Patrick Mottard), nor from the dogmatic faction spearheaded by Jacques Victor, who could not change anything in a one-sided debate without any stakes due to the clear numerical superiority of the majority over the opposition. The opposition merely limited itself to opposing, simply for the sake of political positioning.

Regarding the figures, the budget is set at 1,304 million euros, a slight decrease compared to 2012’s 1,352 million euros.

However, Eric Ciotti wanted to keep the level of fiscal revenue at the same level as this year (and the previous ones, for that matter).

Less revenue, no tax increases; how to manage without incurring more debt? The answer is unique: Rationalize revenues, reduce the operational scope, and the intensity of action.

Some key points from the planned action framework include: Operating expenses will decrease, no increase in local taxes, development of solidarity measures, and support for investment.

To conclude with the leitmotif on which Eric Ciotti has built his political image both locally and nationally: Security. Here too, we find the classic themes: The safety of populations, even if it is more related to rules and organization than to personal safety.

Finally, Eric Ciotti, with an authoritative style but without authoritarianism, secured the vote of his majority.

For the year 2013, it’s already a good starting point.
